Good Evening Dear Friends & Family and Happy April Fools’ Day!
Well, who would have thought we’d have an earthquake, snow shower, rain and even a tornado outside of town yesterday in addition to “The Coronavirus Blues”! WOW!!! Hang on to your hats! Boy howdy, we’re in some rodeo right now!
I thought you might enjoy the following quote. It came to me from a good friend in Montana and is also posted on one of my very favorite Facebook pages…”Glacier Park Hiking & Backpacking”:
“God was spotted walking among the hills, mountains, rivers, and plains of Montana this morning. A passer by asked God what He was doing in Montana. God replied, “Working from home.”
I think you would enjoy becoming a friend of this Facebook page. Check out “Glacier Park Hiking & Backpacking.” You’ll be glad you did!
Not only can our Creator work from home in Montana. He can work from home wherever He pleases…how about on a sunny beach in Florida…or in the Olympic Mountains…or at Canyonlands in Utah…or the beach at La Jolla, California…or the Wisconsin Dells…or Lincoln Park in Chicago…or…you name it! There are so many wonderful places our Creator can call home, since He made them all! So many places our Creator can enjoy and we can enjoy because of our Creator!
Speaking of today being April Fools’ Day, here are couple of outrageous April Fools’ Day hoaxes for your reading enjoyment:
The spaghetti-tree hoax was a three-minute segment broadcast on April Fools’ Day by the BBC. The prank purportedly showed a family in southern Switzerland harvesting spaghetti from the family “spaghetti tree.” The segment was narrated by a distinguished BBC broadcaster and showed a woman carefully plucking strands of spaghetti from a tree and then laying them in the sun to dry. The station received more than a few calls from excited home cooks and gardeners interested in learning how to grow their own spaghetti tree. Decades later, CNN called this broadcast “the biggest hoax that any reputable news establishment ever pulled.”
In 1996, Taco Bell ran a huge ad in major newspapers saying that the company had purchased the Liberty Bell and intended to rename it the Taco Liberty Bell. So many people thought it was true that the National Park Service and some U.S. Senators got involved to explain that it was all a hoax. Taco Bell agreed to contribute $50,000 to help in Liberty Bell’s upkeep in Philadelphia where it remains to this day.
The movie “Contagion” is making a big comeback as a video rental due to the current coronavirus challenge. Well, it turns out that my daughter Amy was a chief casting agent for this movie…her name is in the credits at end of the movie. One of her jobs before she opened The Barred Code in Spokane was as a casting associate with the Claire Simon Casting Agency in Chicago. How about that!
Here’s the word definition for the day:
Hypnagogic (hip-na-gah-jik): “Relating to the state immediately before falling asleep…”Encouraging sleep.” I often like to listen to instrumental music and/or sit in the hot tub to relax into a hypnagogic state.
Here’s the thought for the day:
“Daffodils, that come before the swallow dares, and take the winds of March with beauty.”
—William Shakespeare
Here’s to a great April Fools’ Day and lots of love & good wishes always!
Press on & stay safe,
